Clearwater
Credit Union is
an organization made up of people with a common bond. They save
together and use the savings to provide their fellow members with
low cost loans, when needed.
A
credit union is "not for profit, not for charity, but for
service." This is where Credit Unions differ from all other
savings and borrowing organizations. Members, through savings in
their share accounts are the owners of the credit union. Profits
from the credit union are paid back to the members in the form of
dividends, services, and reserves.
The
Credit Union is owned by its members. Credit Unions are run under
the direction of the Board of Directors who are elected by members.
The Board sets policy. The Credit Union also has a Credit Committee
that can review loans. The Supervisory Committee is involved in internal
controls. These are all volunteer positions.
